Greta ed io - Written, directed and performed by Arianna Sain.

Written, directed, and performed by me, this monologue takes place in the most private of spaces: the bathroom. A young woman anxiously awaits the result of a pregnancy test and as she paces, speaks, spirals, and confesses, the walls seem to close in, echoing her fears about motherhood, the future, and the fragile state of the world she might be bringing a child into.

She is not alone. Standing silently across from her is a life-sized cardboard cutout of Greta Thunberg—a still, unblinking presence that becomes both a mirror and a challenge. Greta represents the ideals of a better, more conscious world, but also the crushing weight of responsibility, urgency, and inherited crisis. The monologue unfolds as a tense and humorous dialogue with this mute figure, turning a personal moment into a meditation on generational anxiety, eco-responsibility, and the terrifying beauty of choice.
